What a thought provoking, intelligent and well-crafted read. The author Brina creates a story that can be read again and again; finding with each read more layers of meaning. The text challenges the reader and doesn’t shy away from addressing complex issues.

What made this book for me so special are the two men at the center of the story. The author has created characters that are well rounded and thought out. They make mistakes and don't always behave as they should, which of course makes them and the story line so much more interesting!

Julien and Shane’s relationship is fascinating to watch unfold. Julien finding himself attracted to Shane sets out with the intellectual aim of educating and testing Shane’s boundaries. Shane is always looking for the next high, fuelled by his upbringing and sexual confusion. In Julien he finds the perfect foil to explore these needs. There are some lovely touches of humour, as seen from Shane’s point of view, of the world and events around him. Due to some unresolved issues, I am hoping there may be another book to follow.

Feeling about Reviews

Good Morning,

I don’t know how I feel today, but it’s not on the plus side of the line. I wrote two books and published them. When I wrote the second book, I tried hard to make it different than the first book. As a new writer, I haven’t found my style yet. I think each story warrants something a bit different. Reading reviews hasn’t really benefited me in the way I thought it would. They leave me confused. Opinions vary that you can’t pinpoint where you actually need improvement. It’s difficult to trust someone with your work. I have a few I do trust.

Last night, I looked through other writers’ reviews. I came upon one review of a 2 star because the book had too many gay characters. What?

I had one who reviewer read the entire book, said it had good sex scenes, but she felt I did not finish all the loose ends, so she wrote in her last sentence that she will return the book. What? You read the book, don’t like the ending, so you return it. Interesting. She also said she didn’t like when I skipped an afternoon. I wonder how she would feel about a family saga that lasted generations. I mean you can’t show every minute of the character’s day. It would be a soap opera. Then you read other reviews that say it could be cut down, and not to show every detail.

So which is it? I have no idea. At this point, I don’t know what method to trust to improve my writing. I go by what I like in a book.

I read an article yesterday explaining that many authors pay for positive reviews. I don’t think that’s fair at all, but this is a free market and a free market isn’t always fair.
Writing Erotica has its own issues with people who have specialized kinks and taboos. I ask myself who is my audience? How do I make sure I enlarge my audience circle? I first write for me.

There is a fine line when you stop promo and begin to write. Some writers can do both, but unfortunately I’m not one of them. I have to focus on one thing at a time.
I think I need a vacation very soon away from people.

Amazon Reviewer Kristy:

Amazing book! So much emotion, so many twists and turns!! You will fall in love with Julian and Shane! Shane is a good boy who always seems to end up doing bad things. Julian is determined to tame him but it's not going to be easy by any stretch of imagination!!!”

Runaway 18-year-old Shane O'Rourke is living under the Huntington Beach Pier. He carries many secrets from his past. Shane wasn’t allowed to explore his sexuality when he lived home with his father, The Reverend. His submissive nature and desires had to remain fantasies.

Shane meets a dark stranger on the beach. Julien Callier is a Dom from Martinique and is sixteen years older than Shane. Bad boy Shane wants to win the heart of Julien Callier and become his sub. But does he really understand what Julien expects from his boy?

Julien's heart goes out to this gorgeous boy and he takes him under his wing, grooming him to be his sub. Julien is determined to let Shane experience the good life, even financing his education, but he’s challenged at every turn by Shane’s rebellious nature.

When Shane’s defiant behavior threatens to come between them for good, Julien has to act fast to teach Shane the meaning of real submission.

Can Julien tame the bad boy? Can Shane give up his old ways of stealing, lying, and using drugs? The playroom is open.

BEND OVER Thoughts

For now I am naming my new book Bend Over. That may change as I write more. Today I have 22,000 words written.
The story takes place in Huntington Beach, California.

He was short two months of graduating high school.  He stole a motorcycle from Laron, the drug dealer he had worked for in New Jersey. He also did not return the money from the drugs he had sold for Laron.

Shane has a twin sister named Sheena.  He has an older brother named Michael.  His parents came from Ireland. His father is a Reverend and his mother is an alcoholic.

This story will be about Shane’s BDSM relationship with Julien Callier.
